In May, the Purrfect Cat Rescue of Crystal Lake, IL, took in a cat named Wishbone. Sadly, her caretaker passed away, leaving her alone in the home for weeks on end. Fortunately, she survived the ordeal but arrived just in time. After being alone and starving, she craved attention, affection, and her favorite food.
“One of our newest loves…beautiful Wishbone. She is so sweet…constantly purring,” they wrote on Facebook.

In addition to starving, Wishbone was suffering from an undertreated medical problem.
“She has had a very rough go of it recently. After being found living with her deceased owner for weeks, we are lucky to have saved her in time. Hyperthyroid and extremely skinny. Attention deprived.”
Now, the rescuers showered Wishbone with love as they searched for her favorite, hard-to-find wet food.
“We have reassured her that she is so loved and won’t ever be lonely or hungry again,” they wrote.
Finding Wishbone’s Lucky Food
Like many kitties we know, Wishbone had a favorite food, and if she didn’t get it, she was reluctant to eat. Unfortunately, they said the food, called Fancy Feast Savory Centers, was “extremely hard to come by”.
So they asked the community if they would help track it down. To their delight (and Wishbone’s), they soon started receiving boxes of food from all over the country.
“Purrfect Cat Rescue friends are amazing and are the best!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH for stepping up and finding the savory centers for our special kitty Wishbone. She is enjoying her favorite food sent from all over. Our hearts are full as is Wishbone’s tummy. Thank you friends!! ❤️❤️” they posted.
In video updates, they show a happy and content Wishbone eating her food hungrily. Her beautiful blue-gray eyes and sweet demeanor endeared her to many fans.
“Thank you to everybody who is stepping up and sending this sweet, deserving kitty some food,” she said.
“Wishbone sends her love and thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️”
A New Beginning
Later, the rescuers posted a video of a very chatty Wishbone as thanks for the donated meals. She was purring as usual and had a big room all to herself and was getting to know some other cat roomies at the shelter.
Now, this “good girl” was ready for adoption.

🐈🌙 Over the Moon for Wishbone 🐈🌙
The following month, Purrfect Cat Rescue Inc. shared an exciting update. Now, Wishbone had more luck as a couple adopted her. Reportedly, they are “over the moon in love” with their new feline companion.
“CONGRATS to Wishbone! This adoption came with some happy tears for the sweetest kitty. Found in a home with her owner who was deceased for weeks, we quickly loved her up. Many of you stepped up and sent her her favorite wet food that was hard to come by. She received food from all over the country, thank you! A few months later, she has put on some weight and is being medicated for her hyperthyroid. The best part of all…she found the love of her new mom and dad. They are over the moon in love with her. Thank you for giving her the forever home she deserves!!❤🏠❤”
On Facebook, people were ecstatic to see a new chapter opening up for Wishbone.
“Wishbone deserves all the best in life and she’s going to get that from her new family…it was love at first sight. 💜💜” wrote one person.
“Sweet little Wishbone. She has a second chance for a furrever family. Lucky girl! Thank you for adopting an adult kitty. You truly have saved a life,” wrote another person.
“So happy for this sweet girl! You have had a rough time, but you came through, and now your going home! So happy for you! I will miss you!😻❤🐾🐾” wrote another.
