It is said that “cats choose us” to serve them. But what happens when museum guards won’t “serve” cats a welcome entry?
In the case of two determined felines in Japan, they decided they wanted to choose an art museum.
Two years ago, a neighborhood black cat named Ken Chan, wandered up to the Hiroshima Onomichi City Museum of Art.
This wasn’t just during any show though. The opening was of a new show, and oddly enough, called “Cats — Mitsuaki Iwago Photography Exhibition.”
Apparently his ticket was not valid and he was turned away at the door….repeatedly.
Then last year, he showed up to the museum with reinforcements.
His purrtner in crime is a Ginger Tabby named Gosaku, or Go-Chan.
Now, the Japanese Cole and Marmalade look-a-likes spend their days plotting and carrying out plan after plan to gain entrance into the museum.
Although they are stopped at every turn by security guards, the pair never give up.
I bet this wasn’t covered in the job interview!
But the guards and staff seem to love the pair, even if they can’t welcome them inside.
Luckily for the world, the museum’s staff has captured the hilarious adventures of the two boys.
They share the photos and videos on their Twitter account, bijutsu1, to the delight of thousands.
It’s not just humorous to see the cats try and try and try, but they seem to be systematically cataloging every attempt possible.
First, Ken-Chan and Gosaku are sure to get plenty of rest for the day’s activities.
They survey the area for the best point of entry.
Hiding in the bushes and grass, vantage points are explored.
Then…some more rest.
Wake up, and get ready for more direct efforts.
Remember to stretch.
They know looking their best could be just what the “bouncers” require to finally say “yes, please come in”. It is an art museum after all!
The boys come together to whisper the details of their strategies.
CAREFUL! Make sure no one is listening!
Gosaku believes purrhaps the old lure them in with a belly rub” may work. Nope.
Ken-Chan uses flirty eyes. No, that’s not winning the guard over.
Gosaku tries the direct approach, then a fake to the right! Darn. Not fooled yet.
Frustrated, Ken-Chan lets out a desperate, “WHY?!!”
His next failed attempt does not end in a very distinguished manner.
Ginger Gosaku tries the sweet approach, but the guard doesn’t fall for his fleeting affection.
The duo regroup. Maybe they can catch them “off-guard” right as the museums morning shift begins.
They wait by the doors patiently.
Crowds of humans gather around the gorgeous felines as if they are an exhibit of their own.
But even when another show titled “Cat-covered cats” opens, the ACTUAL CATS are still denied entry!
The boys can’t help but show their silent displeasure.
Diligently, they stand their ground.
It is and seemingly will always be a standoff.
Even though the cats are literally surrounded by breathtaking views, they seem to only have eyes for what they cannot have.
Yeesh, kids these days…LOL
Enjoy the fresh air!!
The museum has tried to make a compromise for the boys.
Respectfully, during the annual Festival of Lights, the boys weren’t forgotten.
They have gained fame through the museum cafe and gift shop.
Shirts with Ken-Chan’s face and totes with a Yin-Yang design of the boys are sold honoring them.
Black and Ginger cat cutouts meet visitors.
But this only seems to “meowtivate” the duo in their attempts.
“Never give up, never surrender”, is certainly the motto this funny pair are living by.
Boy, aren’t we glad they are!? Go get ’em boys!!!
“Until tomorrow humans…until tomorrow.”

They could give them a special guided tour but I would imagine that would only make them want to get back in even more. I sure would like to see the documentation of their daily adventures. The guards sure must have to keep on their toes. Keep it up boys. Maybe one day you will finally gain entry.
Cats are so much fun. I love what they did on the Festival of lights for the cats that was so sweet. Thanks for shearing this story I so enjoy you stories. And love your Boys and Girls now too.?

Looking forward to your next post.
That is soooooo sweet ♥
I just love how gentle and caring the staff seems to be. In my country I bet many would not care at all, while here even if not being let in, they are treated with humour, love and patience.
What a soothing story to a tired soul
I would let them in just once, if only to see where they go! I’m curious to know purrsonally. Lol
I would hope that someone would adopt the cats and give them a good “forever” home.
