Friend Finds Comfort
Friend came to us earlier this week after being hit by a car and left for dead. He has a long road to recovery with several broken bones in his face and paw, but his prognosis is good! We are honored to give this sweet guy his second chance.
(The next morning:) Thank you all so much for your kind words about Friend! He feels so much better today and is making huge strides in his healing. The car that hit him may have broken his jaw, but his spirit is as strong as ever!

Bones Begin to Heal with Love
Happy Friday from Friend! This spunky guy is becoming a little terror in his kennel – yesterday while playing with his toys he managed to spill all of his food and water everywhere. Then he sat up on his shelf and pretended to be innocent while waiting for us to clean up his messThe vet team is very happy with his progress! The hemorrhage in his eye will continue to recede and we are hopeful that he will regain full vision eventually. We have added a second antibiotic to his regimen and he insists that hourly belly rubs will be the key to his overall healing, which we are happy to provide.
Our sweet Friend is doing so great! His recovery has been so fast it’s hard to believe that he was hit by a car just 19 days ago. The hemorrhage in his left eye is finally receding. He is still non-visual in that eye, but we’re holding out hope that with more time he will regain vision in the eye. Friend LOVES to have his belly rubbed, and he requests an adoptive home with plenty of hands available so he is getting attention at all times.
It has been such an amazing experience for us to watch Friend heal both physically and emotionally. He is a completely different cat compared to when he came in and we all adore him. Our hope is that he will be available for adoption in the beginning of May.
That One Friend That Snores Loudly
Yup, he’s that guy now. HAHA! As the summer months went by, Friend continued to heal successfully at the rescue. Although they had hoped for a May adoption, it didn’t happen. And the loving boy remained in the shelter. The good news is that his recovery was going wonderfully, but he had gotten a few ‘quirks’ after the incident. He had lost all vision in his left eye permanently, however it has just led to the cutest look on his little face!
It’s been way too long since our last update on Friend—and trust us, this sweet boy has been patiently waiting for his moment in the spotlight again!
For those just meeting him: Friend came to us several months ago after being hit by a car and left for dead. A kind passerby scooped him up and brought him to safety at SCSCR, where he began his long road to recovery. While his left eye is now non-functional, we think it just adds to his uniquely handsome charm. 😻
Being incredibly adorable already, now Friend has another swoon-worthy attribute. He snores. Luckily (and hopefully) it’s the thing his forever servants will think is too cute not to film and share online someday.
Friend is incredibly affectionate—he adores people and hands out kisses like candy. Because of the trauma he’s been through, he startles easily with loud sounds or sudden movement, so a calm, quiet home would be the perfect fit. He gets along well with other cats and is ready to find a family who will cherish him forever.
Just one thing to know: due to his crushed nasal cavity, he breathes loudly… kind of like a tiny, furry freight train. Or a cat-shaped snore machine. Either way, it’s endearing.
❤️ To everyone who donated toward his care when he first arrived—thank you. You gave a very special cat a second chance, and we’re honored to be part of his journey.
There are comments that Friend now has a couple of applications pending so fingers, eyes and paws crossed he is adopted soon! Please be sure to follow the Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue online to support their amazing rescue efforts.
