Is it getting steamy in here? Uh-huh. It must be that time of year when the hunky firefighters from Down Under arrive, signaling the blazing start of the holiday season! This year, two of the hunks are from right here in the US, from Florida and Ohio! Plus, another sizzling firefighter is from Canada.
It’s the 31st year of the Australian Firefighters Calendar, with proceeds helping many charities, including helping save, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and cats. An extra special charity this year helps wildlife in Florida!
Australian Firefighters Calendar to Help Florida Wildlife
For the third year now, the calendar supports US charities. This year, they are helping wildlife like the vulnerable keystone species, the gopher tortoise, in Florida.
“The Rescue Rebuild program is a shelter renovation program of Greater Good Charities. This year the Florida Wildlife Project in Fort Lauderdale will receive support to rebuild their Tortoise Rehab enclosure,” they shared with Cole and Marmalade.
By helping the burrowing gopher tortoises, it also helps other animals that use their burrows to survive.
In addition, the calendars support of slew of other charities:
- The Queensland Koala Society
- Kids with Cancer Foundation
- Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital (BBWH)
- Wildcare Inc
- Fauna Rescue of SA
- Native Animal Rescue
- Council of Australian Volunteer Fire Association (CAVFA)
- Queensland Koala Society
- Best Friends Felines
- All Breed Canine Rescue Inc
- Healing Hooves
- Safe Haven Animal Rescue
Aside from the calendar, the firefighters make appearances in magazines and on TV in over 90 countries, using their platform to continue the message of conservation for Australia’s amazing wildlife.
They have also traveled to take part in CatCon Worldwide in Los Angeles.
As in years past, there are separate editions of firefighters with dogs, cats, horses, and other animals, or the “classic” of just the guys. But we’re partial to to the kittens and cats!
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the Cat Calendar. We promise there are cats if you look hard enough!
This year, for 2024, there’s a new edition called the “Hero Calendar,” showing them “do what they do best.” Looks like the guys got to pose with some fiery explosions and get doused with a firehose. Any complaints? We didn’t think so…
Looks like someone is going to have to volunteer to put out that fire!

Behind the scenes for the Hero Calendar:
US and Canadian Firefighters Join the Australian Hunks
Owing to the ongoing popularity of the Australian Firefighters Calendar, they flew in two men from the US and one from Canada!
Caden Troy, 27, is from the St. Lucie County Fire District in Florida and is a firefighter and paramedic.
“I have had a love for firefighting ever since I was a kid visiting my dad at the station he worked at. The brotherhood and camaraderie was always something I strived for but never fully understood until I joined the fire service 6 years ago. That family atmosphere is exactly what I found when I was asked to be a part of the 2024 Australian Firefighters Calendar. I was able to firsthand see the amazing people, animals, and unique environment that Australia has to offer. Most importantly I had the opportunity to interact with the numerous charities and foundations that the calendar benefits and learn of the importance of conservation efforts in order to protect our wildlife and environment. We live on one shared planet and this is a message I am more than happy to take back to the States and share with my audience. And oh yeah, I almost forgot…ripped Firefighters with adorable animals. I think people might enjoy that as well.” Caden Troy.

Jacob Hacker, 30, is from Willard Fire and Rescue, Ohio and is a firefighter, paramedic, actor, and model from rural Ohio. He says it’s been a lifelong dream to take part in the calendar.
“One of my goals was before the age of 30 I wanted to be in the Australian Firefighters Calendar. When I was younger in my fire and medic career, it began as a joke because I felt like I could never be physically capable or fit enough to be one of those men you see in the calendar. After 10 years of hard work and dedication, I reached out to the Australian Firefighters Calendar. To my surprise, they were impressed by my journey and wanted me to partake in their calendar. This was a dream come true and one of the greatest honors of my life to be an American featured into an Australian Firefighters calendar for a good cause”. Jacob Hacker
Steven Giannopolous, 30, from Ottowa Fire Service, Canada, says firefighting has been his dream since he was a boy.
“Firefighting was my dream as a little boy. I remember playing with all my little fire truck toys, pretending to respond to emergencies and being fascinated every time I saw a real-life fire truck ripping to calls. As I grew up, I realized that it’s not superheroes that are doing this job but actual people. From That moment on, I knew firefighting was what I wanted to do! I applied and went through all the rigorous tests and had the opportunity to become a firefighter at a really young age. It’s been 9 years now, and I haven’t looked back. One of the most dynamic and demanding jobs but also the most rewarding being able to serve your community and help people on the worst days of their lives” Steven Gionappilous
