Jo, the tiny tuxie kitten, and his three larger squirmy sisters arrived in foster care in Marina del Ray. Close by was their growly, feral mama, Marmee, who wanted nothing to do with humans. Luckily, a volunteer TNR (trap, neuter, return) rescuer caught the little family outside a boarded-up building in Los Angeles.
Jo and His Three Squirmy Sisters
The rescuers described this litter as “squirmy opinionated kittens,” which they love! They were two and a half weeks old, and their mama was very protective and caring despite being scared.
Experienced foster mom Lisa took in the family to give them sanctuary they so needed. What followed was a peaceful and sweet scene, finally allowing Marmee the time and safety she needed to care for her babies.
Soon, the kittens’ purrsonalities emerged, and with it came their names: three vocal sisters Meg, Beth, and Amy, and their little brother Jo. As you can see below, Amy was the one with the most to say while Meg was a precious but wild child who often charmed her foster mom.
“Every litter has a drama queen & Amy is the one! These are the ones without stuffy noses & certainly clear lungs!”
Marmee’s Last Litter
When the kittens were weaned at almost six weeks, it was time to say goodbye to Marmee. Despite hopes she could be an indoor kitty, she remained feral and unwilling to open up to humans. The protective mama lashed out at her rescuers, so, reluctantly, they returned her to her familiar territory. But not before the same TNR volunteer took her to be spayed and vaccinated. This way she’ll be healthy and never struggle with another litter again.
Marmee did a wonderful job protecting her last kittens and deserved to retire from motherhood. From then on, foster mom Lisa prepared the kittens for lives as happy house cats.
“Ok kids I’m your mama now,” Lisa shared.
The babies had all they needed and loved spending time cuddling and playing together.
Jo the Tiny but Fearless Kitten
As cute as Meg, Beth, and Amy were, their tiny brother Jo was a brave and hilarious little charmer. When you’re the only boy in your mama’s last litter, like Jo, you have to raise the bar of cuteness to new heights.
“Jo appreciation post” The only boy in the litter and what a cute little face!!” Lisa shared.
The tiny but fearless Jo loved climbing on gentle giant Bella, the Great Pyrenees, who loved the attention.
“So much to love about baby Jo. He’s the only boy. He’s the littlest. He always look. surprised. He loves dogs.”
Jo all but disappeared next to Bella.
A New Life for Marmee’s Kittens
These kittens were so lucky and had homes lined up weeks in advance at Baby Kitten Rescue. Best of all; they went out into the world in bonded pairs. The chatty sisters Meg and Beth found a home together and will be “playmates for a lifetime.”
Meanwhile, Jo and Amy reached their big day and were ready to charm a lucky family.
“An intrepid little adventurer in spite of his size, Jo is happy to tag along for the ride, wherever the destination. He’ll greet you when he wakes and find you for snuggles and attention,” shared Baby Kitten Rescue.
“Purrfect Amy may seem shy upon first impression, but her heart is three times the size of her tiny body with a LOT of love to give once she feels comfortable with you🥰,” they shared.
